Now retired, Mr. Miyazaki is well-known for being a super famous animator. He has many award winning, acclaimed works and is known for his intense, thoughtful, meaningful stories. He co-founded Studio Ghibli, an animation and film studio that has released many famous titles. Mr. Miyazaki is often compared to Walt Disney, for his magical premises, characters, and distinct animation and art style.

His directorial debut began with Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. From there, his films only got better with titles like Nausica of the Valley of the Wind and Princess Mononoke. In fact, it was Princess Mononoke that made him known in the US. Before that, he was only a huge success in Japan. Many of Miyazaki's films involve nature and magic. His main characters are typically female and there's usually a romance involved.

On September 1, 2013, Miyazaki announced that he would no longer be making feature-length films. We can only hope he changes his mind! Where is the world without Miyazaki's amazing works?
